BioContainers Registry: Searching Bioinformatics and Proteomics Tools, Packages, and Containers

BioContainers is an open-source project that aims to create, store, and distribute bioinformatics software containers packages. The community has developed a set of guidelines standardize including the metadata, versions, licenses, dependencies. supports multiple packaging container technologies such as Conda, Docker, Singularity. provide over 9000 tools, more than 200 proteomics mass spectrometry tools. Here we introduce Registry Restful API make containerized tools findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable (FAIR). provides fast convenient way find retrieve tool packages containers. By doing so, it will increase use while promoting replicability reproducibility in research.
